In theory disc brake rotors are as simple as it gets. Choose the right material, find an appealing design and decide what mounting standard it should have. Right?
We don't think so! A few years ago Intend BC already produced a first batch of a similar looking rotor. Demand was surprisingly high and all rotors were sold out in no time. In general, the goal was to offer a rotor that improves heat dissipation, offers a larger friction surface and is equipped with enough stiffness to handle high brake loads of modern disc brakes and evolving riding styles. The mathematical reason behind that is the exponentially growing surface area by using holes with a smaller diameter than rotor thickness. To be precise: 672 holes on 203mm & 528 holes on 180mm rotors equals around 30% greater surface area and similar improvement in heat dissipation.
The second batch of Intend Aero rotors is further improved in detail but is still manufactured around the same principles...and looks even better.
