In our opinion a light weight shock should be lightweight, but not too lightweight
Because if you’re going for demanding trails, you do want to have some performance as well. The Hover MC Light does not weigh 240g, not 250g, it weighs 299g. But not 350g. it is just the weight you need, to have proper capacity for descending, but only around 50g heavier than the super light weight competitor shocks. In our eyes, also the cross county bikes are developing towards more fun on the trails. This is where our shocks comes to stay.
Nevertheless, we have a 3 position lockout. Downhill-mode, gravel-mode and road-mode. It is exactly what it sounds like. You have no power loss on the uphills, also not on the technical uphills with our gravel-mode. No fatique lockout for fireroads, but feels like a roadbike with the road-mode.
And what is the difference to the more heavier Hover Monocoque models? The Main difference is, next to shorter length, more compact main body, different seal-head shape. For weight reasons, you cannot tune the progression of the shock. We set the progression in a balanced way, that with porper air pressure, you will use around 95% of the shock stroke, some will use 92%, some will use 98%, almost nobody will use 100%. That way, we can keep the shock’s weight low, and it fits all riders out there. The damping circuit, the lockout, the seals and surfaces – 100% same to heavier Hover MC shocks. damping circuit, let me tell you more about it:
Our custom shim-stack tuning, tailored to rider weight, frame, and riding style, has been optimized over the last three years, and you get a perfect fitting shock for your bike. There is nothing to worry about.
