You just unpacked your Hover rear shock and want to do an initial setup guide? You’re servicing or working on your fork and you’re looking for more info? You’ve come to the right place.

  • When working on your shock always make sure you’re in a clean environment to prevent contamination of seals.
  • Only use a suspension specific pump which is rated for up to 600 PSI.
  • Be aware of the Fine Tune Dial and make sure to read and understand the air spring setup guide before proceeding. The Fine Tune Dial should always be opened before releasing air from the shock. If you release air while the Dial is closed, there is still pressure in the negative air chamber, and the shock is not save to work on.
  • Your shock comes with no volume spacers installed.

Air Spring Setup

  1. Open the Fine Tune Dial.
  2. Connect shock pump to inflate to desired pressure (4 psi per kg rider weight is a good starting point, e.g. 80kg = 320 PSI).
  3. Close the Fine Tune Dial (leave the shock pump connected).
  4. Add additional pressure of 1.24x the current pressure, or if you’re lazy go for additional 65-85 PSI.
  5. Unscrew shock pump and proceed with regular sag measurement.
  6. Repeat from step 1. until you hit desired sag value.

Volume Spacer

  1. Remove shock from the bike.
  2. Open the Fine Tune Dial.
  3. Connect shock pump and release all air.
  4. Use a rubber inner tube to grab and unscrew the Air Can anti-clockwise.
  5. Stack volume spacer o-rings onto the shock body. Check the table on the right for recommened number of volume spacers depending on the stroke of your shock.
  6. Screw the Air Can back onto the shock body until no more gap is visible.

Damping

  • Your shock is custom tuned to your rider weight and frame leverage.
  • Set both, compression and rebound adjustment to the middle of the range and adjust to your liking, we recommend changing only one parameter at a time.
  • Rotate lockout lever counter-clockwise to lock the shock for efficient uphill performance.
  • Outer dial sets the low speed compression.
  • Inner dial sets the low speed rebound.

  1. Gamechanger Lockout: Flip the lever fully anti clockwise to activate lockout for climbing.
  2. Compression Adjustment: The outer dial sets lowspeed compression damping.
  3. Rebound Adjustment: The inner dial sets the low speed rebound.
  4. Fine Tune Dial: The stainless steel dial connects and seperates positive and negative air chamber.
  5. Air Can: Can be removed to install / remove Volume Spacer O-Rings.

Just in case you’re wondering – it’s normal that

… a bit of oil can exit through the air valve when releasing air.
… a bit of assembly oil can be found on the surfaces of the Hover Opt.
… the rebound adjustment dial has no clicks.
… there might be a slight play between shaft and body.
… the pressure is different when reattaching the pump due to the nature of the Fine Tune Dial and both the chambers equalizing when it’s opened. Please follow the air spring setup guide from this manual to avoid any mistakes.
